Liverpool will not be buying a new midfielder this summer after agreeing a deal to sign Aberdeen full-back Calvin Ramsay, according to reports.

The Reds have been getting their business done early this summer with Fabio Carvalho joining from Fulham on July 1 and Darwin Nunez arriving from Benfica in a deal that could potentially rise to £85m.

Liverpool are expected to sell Sadio Mane this summer with the Senegal international making it clear to the Reds hierarchy that he wants to move to Bayern Munich.

Jurgen Klopp led Liverpool to FA Cup and League Cup glory last term with the Reds missing out on the Premier League title to Manchester City by a point and losing in the Champions League final to Real Madrid.

Klopp has been backed again this summer but the Daily Mail claims that Liverpool have ‘no plans to buy new midfielder’ despite rumours still circulating of interest in a number of players.

The Reds have made a ‘breakthrough in their pursuit’ of Aberdeen full-back Ramsey with the Scotland under-21 international ‘on course to be their third – and final – signing of the summer’.

Liverpool, who have been trying to land Ramsey for weeks, ‘have brokered a deal that will see them pay an initial £4million with a further £2.5m in bonuses’ to beat off competition from other clubs.

Ramsey ‘is expected to be given permission to travel to Merseyside in the next 24 hours to begin a medical’ with Aberdeen ‘determined to get a club record fee’ for the Scot.

Meanwhile, Nunez, who scored 34 goals in 41 matches in all competitions for Benfica last season, will be expected to make a difference at Anfield next term and he spoke earlier this week of his reasons for joining Liverpool.

“I’m really happy and delighted to be here at Liverpool. It’s a massive club,” Nunez told LFCTV.

“When I arrived at the training ground, I was really surprised to see the set-up and the structure and all the trophies here.

“You can then imagine yourself winning more trophies and then later on when you come here again and see the trophies on display, you can say, ‘Look, I was a part of that, I was there at that time, winning trophies’.

“That’s one of the reasons why I came here to Liverpool – to win trophies and titles. I want to win a lot of trophies at Liverpool.”
