The Waterford Rotary Club and friends gathered June 7, for a ribbon cutting and dedication of the new play structure at Rotary Park in Waterford Township.

The project was a joint effort of the Rotary Club and the Waterford Township Parks and Recreation Department. The Rotary Club began raising funds for the structure in the spring of 2021. Allison Swanson, director of Parks and Recreation, wrote a grant to receive most of the funds needed to purchase the equipment, according to an email from the Waterford Rotary Club.

The barrier-free play structure is in the center of the park complex, located at 5485 Tubbs Road. The park is a sports complex with two baseball-softball fields, several soccer fields, a bathroom and a pavilion with a grill.

Jack Mannschreck, president of the Waterford Rotary Club and pastor of Waterford Central UMC, said at the event, “Thank you for your generosity in providing this wonderful addition to Rotary Park. Now, like everything in this beautiful park, we give it to the community!”
